'Tis the rubber duckie season



Rubber duckie by famous Dutch designer, Florentijn Hofman, is finally in town.  It's cute, it's huge, but I still can't understand what the hype is all about.  But either way, being a HK'er at heart, I've made some rubber duckie cookies to follow the hype.

...and, rubber duckie is swimming on bubbly water too!

Homemade Plum Wine (part I)

Seems like plums are in season lately so I came up with the idea of making some plum wine at home.  The actual ingredients putting-together part is quite simple, and the only troublesome thing is it does take some time for the wine to sit before it's ready to be served.  So here are the steps:

1. Sterilize the glass container you intend to make the wine in by boiling it in hot water for approximately 1 minute.

2. Choose the kind of wine you'd like to make your plum wine with.  This time, I've chosen to use Chinese rice wine from Guangxi.  It's a random pick really.  Next, measure out the amount of plums needed - 1 portion of plums needed for every 2 portions of wine used.


3. Remove the top "lid" of each plum with a toothpick, and wash them thoroughly in water.



4. Dry the plums, and poke holes all over them using a fork.

5. Place the plums into the bottom of the glass container, and carefully pour the rice wine over them.  Seal the container, and mark down the date.  Set aside the container in a cool, dry place...and voilà.  See you in two months!

Bye Bye Bye

I've designed 36 unique cookies for my friend's last day of work.  She wanted to give each of her colleagues a card with a custom-made cookie inside so I suggested to make the cookies with their initials on.  I kinda just drew the designs as I go.  Improvise I'd say!!
